Re: What's the strangest job you've done?
A couple of years ago I was on a job as a maintenance engineer for a large German company, when my car started making a funny noise on the way into work one morning.
It turned out the cambelt was about to let go! So I managed to persuade one of the truck drivers at said company, to pick up a cambelt kit while he was out and about that day and fitted it on the car park after I had finished that days shift.
It turns out the big boss was watching me do it from his office window and the following day asked me if I would fit new brakes to his Aston Martin.
So there I was, earning about twice as much as the company mechanics, in the air conditioned company garage, fixing the bosses supercar! He gave me a rather large cash tip too!

Re: What's the strangest job you've done?
The strangest job I got was pretty good challange is get the old diesel generator out of the basement and I am not talking about small units at all this is a pretty big unit 750 Kva size with no elevators to the basement and everyone keep asking me and one other guy how the heck we get them out of the basement I say as you see the tow tractor I pointed outside i did ask the Aeroport to borrow their unit and they say sure and they told me that have plenty power to push 777 aerocraft.
so lay down the steel plate and slide the whole unit up the stair good thing the stairway is 2 meter wide so not too bad to slide it out but with 30° pitch that was pretty hard on cables during pulling but once we get it out then we have to slide the new unit down in two sections one is prime mover { engine } second section is generator due the new one is larger 1 megawatts size
took a full weekend to swap it around { nice overtime pay as well }
Merci,Marc
