I do a lot of installation inspection and testing and as I was burned once on a periodical when the customer refused to pay unless I passed it without any remedial work. Now they pay up front for the test and geta quote on the remedial, stage payments if quote accepted. If they cant or wont pay up front I walk away.

why you guys leave tools on site? i have no idea, customers seems okay and nice at first but then they turn nasty when things dont go right. i always take my tools back everynight when i leave jobs, its a pain in the ass when you have to keep taking in and out of van irrelavant if they complete expensive or not its ALWAYS best, even though they say its okay its safe to leave here, ******** to that. ive seen my friends in same trade lose tools like this. better safe than sorry.

I used to leave tools at some customers, but don't now. I never know if I'm going to be phoned on my way home and will need my "what-ya-may-call-it" to do a quick job in the evening before I return to original customer the next day.
