Default Link to your website in this topic please

I thought it'd be handy to gain you guys some links. Firstly by adding your link by replying to this thread.

I recommend rather than just typing the domain name or URL out, use the actual text you want to rank for in search engines and then make that a link.

I'll start off with a few of ours.
Now, if you all PM each other to swap links with each other and always use variations of what you want to rank for as the actual link text, you'll find your rankings in search engines will improve quite a bit. Obvisouly you wouldn't want to really swap links with a local competitor, but if they're out of your area, why not?

I'll add another couple of our tilers
Clearly those three can swap links, and do, and they all rank for what they want to rank for. Easy peasy.

p.s. I'd also recommend doing the same in your signatures. Rather than just having the link like 'fredsplastering.com'. Having 'Plasterer in Wherever' will do much more good for you.

On another note, further to the original topic, search engines will only count the anchor text in the first link if more than one instance occurs. This will always be the first instance in the source code.

    For example as per above:

Dave's link 'stone tiling in durham' will not help his ranking in the search engines for that keyword/phrase as in the original topic, a link to the same page (homepage) appears first for 'tiler in durham' where the anchor text will be counted. The fact that the two links in this example are so similar, there would be no major difference in ranking for such a niche term but as an example, I hope that makes sense.

Ahhhh, the example you gave is the only case of this in this thread though. the thread in general is setup to allow other members that haven't already been linked-to to get a bit of link love. I linked to Dave's website as he's my right hand man, he just linked to it as well, that's all.

Cheers for the heads up though.

    No worries Dan...

You can just see it now though... Hundreds of members posting numerous links all going to their homepage just with different anchor text in each. Heh

I don't think they're that web savvy to be honest mate. They wouldn't assume that would work at all, most don't even know they need links. tut. Working on that one in general and have been for years!
