Discuss ISP (Internet Service Provider) in the Computing at the Contractor Forum; Who's your ISP? My first choice would be VirginMedia, though i can't get that here, so I'm with BT (booooo - I hate BT!)....

Yeah, I got the BT before I ordered sky and as I'm in a contract now with BT I can't get Sky internet (without getting a second phone line and having two internet connections - which is pointless). Though when I'm out of the BT contract I'll probably be switching to sky providing the speed is the same as the BT hub is a mile away from me and it's laggy now at peak times, and apparently BT have priority over traffic going through the hubs so 3rd party providors suffer more than BT would at peak. So I'll have to do some testing or something I think.

Gutted I had to give up the super fast and reliable VM! Grrrrr.

I'm with talk talk and have no problems but the exchange is only 2 streets away.

Naughty things is I am looking to move because my phone bill is no longer the cheapest and i've just found out that when I moved from BT to Talk Talk they un-looped my phone line from the main network. (Talk Talk own some hardware in the exchange and my line sits on it) This means that if I want to keep my number then I can't move to anybody I want, but have to move it back to BT first. When I have the time for an argument then I’m going to make Talk Talk show me the paperwork that I signed to allow them to do that. Not a happy chappy!

Ahh, Carephone Warehouse own them, and they too have lots of weird terms. A phone was £15 cheaper in their store if I bought it with a card, but waving cash at them they wouldn't budge on it! Something to do with "security" he said. I though hmmmmm - got it from Argos in the end for the same price, and with cash!

I think they've got some tie in with AOL aswell, Customer service is nightmare but luckily i've only had to call them a handful of times in 5 years. The first time I tried (2 hours) I got so fed up I went into a carphone warehouse, kicked up a fuss and made them sort it before I left the store.

In all they haven't been bad but when things go wrong they go very wrong! I've noticed my costs have been going up but my service has been going down, when they installed new hardware at the exchange I was getting around 6.5mbs, I'm luckly if I get 2mbs now
