    Default Estimating software

    Hi,

I'm taking the plunge and going out on my own.
I think I need to get hold of some pricing software (For refurbishment and alteration work) to reduce my time sat in the office.

I am IT literate but no Bill Gates. Can anyone recommend a good package?

    Thanks,
    Sean

How big of a program are you looking for? I use PlanSwift and it handles estimates and takeoffs, never had a issue and easy to learn.

    Thanks Guys.

I have had a look at Easy price pro'. Looks very impressive and straight forward. Does anybody have experience of using this? Is it actually as accurate and simple as they claim?

    Thanks,
    Sean

I'm not sure what scale of work you guys are looking at but Esti-Mate is a good product and can be supplied with a full pricing database pre loaded. (It isn't one of our products but as a surveyor and software guy, I like the way it works and we do use it).

    Worldwide Software UK Ltd

You can download a free demo from there. Another option is getting a cut down free version with a Wessex price book. If you don't need advanced features, that might be the way to go.

Google Quickbid. I have heard good things about it.

I made my own bid program in Excel. Very easy to update. If you do not require something complicated, go with Excel.
